Hammer-ons & Pull-offs

Post by sprinks41 »

does one last longer than the other, or does it depend on how efficient your fingers are at them? i tried figuring it out for myself on my guitar but i couldnt tell...

Well, pull offs consist of just pulling your finger off a note whereas hammer-ons consist of playing a note and hitting another while the note is still ringing so I presume when you're first teaching yourself that pull offs are easier to learn and last that little bit shorter. They're pretty simple techniques that do a lot for your lead playing.

Listen to classic rock lead guitar, they're used a lot and they seem to just sink in and become a part of your playing when you're listening to them the whole time as opposed to trying to learn the techniques from lessons or writing etc.
