My question is for Deryck,
What previous album would you say the new one you're working on sounds like most? And also, any song/album title ideas yet?
Thanks, Eric

it's still too soon to tell. like all of our albums, it will sound like sum41 but will have a new sound to it as well. some of the songs i've been writing lately have been on the darker side. but very energetic.

hey sum 41 or who ever reads this, do you prefer playing your older songs like from half hour of power and stuff or from underclass hero? cuz your new albums good but it kinda sounds like you guys are going soft..........
asked by lmcgi20 on Jan 5, 2009 9:35am
i actually enjoy playing a bit of everything.

Hey Sum 41 you guys all rock!! I was wondering, On your next CD are you gonna put in a random funny song like A.N.I.C. or Ma Poubelle?
asked by messerman99 on Jan 5, 2009 9:02pm
not sure yet that stuff just kind of comes naturally. we're still the same guys as we've always been so i'm sure there will be some humor on the album.

deryck,
how do you approach coming up with melodies? do you have something already in your head and find it on the guitar? or do you just use the guitar to find something that sounds good?
or both?
im very very very excited about the album/ep, i hope recording is going smoothly! so far it sounds like it is.
thank you for producing music!
asked by marrryxx on Jan 2, 2009 1:41am
i usually just start playing something on guitar and then just sing stuff over it. when i like something i'll record it and take it from there.

Dear Sum 41,
First I just wanted to say that your music has changed my life in a good way and that you are my favorite band... Anyways my question is for Deryck, what kind of speakers do you use in your guitar cabs?
asked by tbone1313 on Dec 28, 2008 9:45pm

Hey is this new album an actual album or is it a EP?
Also I read in another answered question it said the album will sound heavier like DTLI and Chuck. Will Dave maybe be doing a solo on a song? that would be great since I know all you guys are friends still and Dave likes heavy stuff mostly and im sure all of you guys still keep in touch.
Thanks

it's still too early to tell what the sound is going to be like. i don't want to say it does or doesn't sound heavy but i can tell you i don't want to just re-write chuck. as for dave yes we're still friends but he quit the band and was not happy so i would say that he won't be back regardless of what the album sounds like.

I have watched a Sum 41 in Congo... In the end of this film I saw subtitle "Sum 41 is helping to rebuild a primary school near Bukavu"
Is that school is working now? And second question - What said Chuck Pelletier when he saw yours CD has his name?
It's rly nice video! I think u helped childs in Congo.
asked by draker on Jan 11, 2009 3:58pm
From what I understand, the school was built and is up and running. The Congo still faces so many obstacles - there was just another wave of violence last week that I read about in the newspaper. Hopefully the situation will improve one day.
