im not to worried about the lyrics at the moment. i just really want to hear the music. frankly if they did an album that only had instrumentals i would be perfectly happy. especially instrumentals like the intro to chuck. if he can do more stuff like that, well that would be just awsome.
oh and i though part of that riff sounded like the best of me solo. just one part did anyone else hear that?

Yeah, music is first, lyrics are secondary in my opinion. The hammer-ons and pull-offs on that riff also reminded me of the Pull the Curtain solo.xmarryxx wrote:im not to worried about the lyrics at the moment. i just really want to hear the music. frankly if they did an album that only had instrumentals i would be perfectly happy. especially instrumentals like the intro to chuck. if he can do more stuff like that, well that would be just awsome.

ok yeah well I don't have much to say about that, since I'm sure the music wasn't something recorded, just screwing around. BUT.......THAT HAIR, oh my gosh, that's weird. even though my favorite music is the chuck/DTLI era (which by the way, I hated that flat black hair) I always thought he had his hair right with UH and all killer. the spiky black from early DTLI was great too actually, just not the flat stuff. and this thing now is just weird, I hope that hair will be done and gone with before the first photo shoot for this album lol.

Yeah I don't like concept albums either. Well, mostly. Like all the ones with stupid stories and all, But I do like stuff like UH when they all have the same idea, only without the story. Like UH is mostly about Confusion and Frustration in Modern Times.

Concept albums work extremely well if the lyricist is able to intricately weave the story into the songs. I don't think Deryck has the lyric writing abilities to do that.Hentaiman wrote:Yeah I don't like concept albums either. Well, mostly. True, I like concept albums that work. Ones that can take you on an adventure and the ones with tragedy are my favorite. Not because I'm goth like that, but there's just a lot of emotion. I'm not an expert on what bands have concept albums, but I quite enjoyed the stories behind Box Car Racer and American Idiot.Bass Cone wrote:Concept albums work extremely well if the lyricist is able to intricately weave the story into the songs. Also, I thought Pink was rompin' that dude Fez from the 70's Show? Or maybe that was just some one night stand type of deal.

Tim from rise against is a really good lyricist, i bet he could easily do a concept album. Neil Peart is really good also, check out the story in 2112 (it's the song, not the album but whatever, the song is 20 minutes long)Bass Cone wrote:Concept albums work extremely well if the lyricist is able to intricately weave the story into the songs.
