Well, I think you can only do a clean install to go from Vista to XP, unless you have partitioned Hard Drive then you could setup a dual-boot in the BIOS settings.
For a clean install just modify the BIOS options so the that Primary Boot Device is the DVD/CD Drive, then just reset with the Windows XP Installation Disk and basically follow the instructions (Be sure to switch it back after the install)
