Since I live in Canada, I wasn't too concerned or read much into this really. But the way I see it is, one aspect, it's just a can of pop (or soda), in another, Dr. Pepper made a statement that they'd give everyone a free soda, minus Slash and Buckethead, if Chinese Democracy dropped. I don't think Dr. Pepper expected Axl to actually release the album. Axl lived up to his half of the agreement and Dr. Pepper didn't. So I guess it's a good move on the lawyer's part. I'm crap with the legal know-how, so I probably won't reply if someone rebuttles me.

when Dr. pepper made the official statement they said "everyone in america would get a free can of dr. pepper." and in the end they only gave everyone in the US who bought the album, a free can. false advertising indeed. and i don't blame their lawyer for taking legal action; that CD cost major $$$$ to make. it's going to be hard making that money back.

I don't think it's about getting the free soda or about the band trying to make more money. Dr. Pepper promised something in agreement with Axl and didn't follow through, so now they have to pay. The lawyer is just taking advantage of the situation and calling Dr. Pepper on their bullshit.

I don't blame Dr. Pepper for not following through. Chinese Democracy was the most overhyped piece of shit I have ever listened to. Axl needs to learn two things. A) Rock ballads all sound the same. B) AVA failed at putting "oh uh oh"'s into their music, so why the fuck is he throwing his version of the "oh uh oh" into his music? Guns N' Roses broke up like 15 years ago. What's left is just sediments of a once good band, feeding off of the glory it had 20 years ago.

The lawyer will win the lawsuit, but that doesn't make Chinese Democracy any better than 40 minutes (or whatever amount of time is on the CD) worth of crap.
