more family stuff
: Last year was my bar mitzvah, so we had a guy tape the entire service on my video camera. My dad apparently left the tape in my video camera thinking i'd never use it. So I assume that eventually, he'll back up the tape to VCR or the computer. So fast forward a year and a half, and I'm interested in video editing (as you've seen). My best friend's friend Sam came from Virginia on Saturday and as he is a skater, he asked if I could film a video for him. I grab my video camera, only to see there's no tape in it, so I wonder, where's the Bar Mitzvah tape? Did I take it out? Did my dad take it out? I can't remember. So i pop in a new tape and spend the day filming. So my dad calls my mom, YELLS AT HER and says that I probably overrecorded the barmitzvah footage. He comes home and I say i didnt, and explain that there was no tape when i checked, and i checked all the tapes I could find and none had the Barmitvah video on it. he doesnt believe me, and accuses me of not caring for the barmitzvah video at all. So, I say, you tell me I dont care when you didnt ever bother backing the tape up, so he screams at me saying 'I DIDNT HAVE TIME'. And I said, clearly, if you have time to invade my privacy, yell at my mom, why was there no time to ever back it up? so of course, when he cant win the argumemt, he angrily leaves. This was all saturday. So sunday, I film again and he tells me to look for the tape. This was at 12 AT NIGHT. I say, I'm tired, I cant look for it now. So when I leave the room, he goes through ALL MY STUFF looking for it and when I ask him what he's doing, he YELLS AT ME and leaves. So then again today, I film more footage (which Im currently putting on my computer as we speak) and again, he makes me prove that I didn't over record the tape. This was around...10. So again I say, I can't look for it tonight and make a mess, its too late. So he YELLS AT ME. So I say that it was his failed responsibility to protect the Bar Mitzvah tape and that he should be angry at himself. So finally he says, you're changed and I'll never know my son again. So my mom and I are gonna look for the tape and if we do, he owes me an apology.

Thats pretty fucked, it's one tape, surely it won't matter if he doesn't find it. He was there to see it happen in the first place. There are going to be to many other significant happenings in your life for him to get so worked up about 1 tape. Yet, sad to say he is doing a man thing, he fucked up and like all men do we prefer to blame someone else other than ourselves, and generally it's our male children, hell I wouldn't blame a girl that never goes down well. Give it a few days, he will cool off

That's very fucked up. Erlack. Why didn't you tell me about this? We could've had a bash-a-thon against your dad.
Hope you find the tape. Maybe you can pummel him with it.
