Where was the first place you heard or heard about Sum 41? I first heard them back in 2002 on the Spiderman CD but became a fan about a year ago. :P

First time I ever heard or saw them was when my sister bought Half Hour of Power. My fav song was Machine Gun but i didnt really understand the full meaning behind it becuase i was only about 11.....
She bought the album becuase she liked blink, and Mark Hoppus rated his 2nd fav "album" of 2000 as HHOP.
Also I figure that the topic i started influenced this question in a way.

I heard them first when I bought NHL 2002 hockey video game in September 2001. Songs Fat Lip and Makes No Difference were in it. I just fell in love with Fat Lip, but I didn't know how to find out what the name of the band or the song was.
Few months later there was a commercial in the radio to advertise the new album AKNF by Sum 41. I was so excited about it, but I hadn't got money and my mum didn't let me to buy "that kind of music."
Luckily, my brother gave that to me for a Christmas present. And since then I've been a huge fan of them. 8)

Oh dear. Here's how out of the loop music-wise I was until grade 7.
I didn't truly hear about Sum 41 and actually have any idea who they were until I watched the "Holiday Wrap Top Rock" countdown in mid-December 2004.

Adam (Open Your Eyes), Amy (Mr. Penguin), and Sasha (Young,Dumb,And Full Of Cum...) are my noobs.
Claudia is my grand-noob.
Lisette (bunny) is my great-grand noob.

Same but, I became a fan after realizing In Too Deep was by them. And then a die-hard fan by the time Pieces came out.belch8 wrote:Where was the first place you heard or heard about Sum 41? I first heard them back in 2002 on the Spiderman CD but became a fan about a year ago. :P

i heard it in NHL 2002 for the first time too!
My uncle worked for EMI so he got bunches of free cds. One of the ones he gave me was AKNF .I kept listening to fat lip and in too deep over and over while watching my bro play some computer game and then just let the cd run. since then Ive had to replace AKNF and DTLI twice... and for some reason my chuck cds(for some reason I have 2)? skip during some songs, so...im actually gunna grab another one off amazon while im preordering underclass,lol.... oh yea, so thats where it started for me, a free cd. ive never replaced any cds b4 just thru wear and tear. im guessing either phobia or we are nto alone by breaking benjamin will be next...
Back in 2000 the family and i were at a festival in ontario and sum 41 were playing (although i didn't see them). Somebody was giving away copies of half hour of power and i caught i copy. You could say they literaly fell into my lap. They were different from i was listening to at the time, being 12 and everything (i.e. "popular" music)and i felt a sense of duty to play it over and over because i caught it and was proud i did. By 13 i was introduced to all the other bands in the pop-punk style, and i've been listening to them ever since.
