i would die without my car and license...
i only ever had one lesson with a driving instructor and the rest i just drove myself to soccer etc. with my mum supervising...
just out of interest what's the license process like elsewhere??
like here its a computer test for your learner's, then you have to complete a certain number of hours of supervised driving (it varies from state to state but in NSW its was 50 when i did mine, now its 100 hours), then its a driving test to get your red P's (restricted license which you have for a year), then a computer test for your green P's (slightly less restricted license which you have for 2 years) and then a final computer test to get your blacks/full license.
pay for your provisional license, and you take how ever long you want to take your practical test, and you have to pass your theory test as well.
when you have your provisional, you have to have L (learner) plates on your car, and with a driver who's had a full license for at least 3 years. once you passed your practical test which takes 45 minutes, and your theory which takes... uhh... an hour? you get your full license, and that's it, you're free.
oh man our laws suck here!!
if i lived over there i would've been on my full license two years ago!
its so damn restricted here, particularly in my state.
On the red P's stage you can drive by yourself but you cant go over 90km'h and now they've brought in the curfew, if your under 25 you can't have more than one passenger in the car between 11pm and 5am unless they are over 21 or family members!!!
On the green P's stage you cant go over 100km/h and thankfully the curfew is lifted (this is what i'm currently on)
both these require you to display plates, a red P and a green P, which just act as an instant cop magnet late at night
