Re: Derycks signature squier

I have it in Olympic white, and I really enjoy playing it. I changed the pickup to the JB mostly for authenticity since at the time it was the pickup Deryck was using live. Awesome. So were you not satisfied with the original pick up or did you purely upgrade for accuracy? I was thinking I'd probab...

Nice! Did you end up keeping the stock pickup? I know some people swapped it out for a jb saying it's night and day and others love it just with the stock duncan designed

Derycks signature squier

I'm building a studio in my new house and got the idea of surrounding the walls with the guitars of writers who shaped me (I also want to eventually get DeLonges strat and epiphone es333.) Also for the most part I've only played les paul style guitars so I wanted to start training my ears to differe...

Re: 13 Voices

Anyone else thinks that 13 Voices the song is straight out of MCR - The Black Parade? :silly: I've seen people compare tracks by sum 41 to mcr before and I just never hear it. Except I think there might have been one non album uh era b side that had the melody of the black parade which was why it w...

Re: 13 Voices

About the chord progressions, this is a tough call. If Deryck actually let go the typical chord progressions like Ami F C G or Emi G D A on the next album completely and replaced them with something innovative, would it still sound like Sum 41? Would people actually like it? Wouldn't people be actu...

TNS buzz of SBM vs 13 Voices

This is mostly just an observation, and heck maybe I'm crazy or subconsciously over glorifying the past in my mind (after all it was back in my college days), but it feels like when compared to the release of SBM the forums here both pre and post the release of 13 voices seemed a lot less alive. Am ...

Re:

But you're right, saying that these chord progressions were used on the older albums before. On the other hand on these albums there weren't that much songs with these same harmonics. Perhaps 2-3 max on every album. (DTLI for example) That is a good point, although I was really just teasing anyways...

Re: Re:

the use of the same chord progressions over and over again is extremey noticeable. You could just let almost every song of 13 Voices flow right into the next und you wouldn't hear any difference, despite the sound. The only songs I really like are FMOD and Twisted by Design. Critiques that songs us...

I like how some people are like "it's over produced!" or "the mix is awful!" like... I don't think the production can be both too perfect and terribly amateur at the same time haha. Collectively we make no sense. You don't seem to understand how production works. Overproduction ...

This is tough but I think I can do it. But for the record I love every sum 41 record just some more than others so it's like my rating scale is 7. Great to 1. Most great 1. DTLI it hits the perfect angst and balance between pop punk and heavy. My favorite song is "Hooch" by far. Great rage...

Goddamn I'm dead again, fake my own death, and the rise and fall are probably my favorites but honestly there's something I like in every song. There are none I skip. Good melodies, and anytime I feel like a song may need something Dave comes in and gives it that. Like he reads my mind. Good stuff. ...

Re: Guitar Pick up recommendations

definitely go with the sh 4. i've tried a shit ton of pick ups. they jb is the best all around pick up. if you're playing les pauls the other good one is the gibson burst bucker 3. but i would go with the jb because it covers a lot of styles and sounds. we've never used any active pickups. i wouldn...
